Jesus the Christ

Adult Formation – Spring 2020 – Celina Cluster – Facilitator – Fr. Tim McFarland, C.PP.S., Ph.D.

This four-part series will focus on Jesus the Christ.

Session One – Jesus’ Passion, Death and Resurrection

We will examine the resurrection, passion and death of Jesus to discover how God reconciled humans to Himself. We will look at how people interpreted the death of Jesus, how Jesus’ death came to be seen as a sacrifice and how people came to understand the resurrection. We will look at similarities and differences in the Gospel accounts of the resurrection to better understand its meaning for Christians.

Session Four – The “Green Jesus”

If Jesus is going to have an impact in our lives today, we must be able to draw insights from Him as we face contemporary issues. One of the issues that we face is stewardship of our environment. Pope Francis addressed this in his encyclical Laudato si (2015). We will look for some ways that our Christology might address environmental concerns today.
