Empty Bowls Mercer County 2020 will kick-off with a marathon “Create A Bowl” painting party on Sat., Jan. 18, at Brew Nation/Potters House on Main where community members will come together to create hand-painted bowls for the “Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction” that will be held this Spring. By joining us at “Create A Bowl”, you will become part of an effort to make a difference. Many of our Mercer County neighbors — average people who are facing hard times – will be able to find safe shelter, keep a roof over their heads, put food on their tables, and mend relationships with their children because someone created a bowl and someone else bought it! To join “Create A Bowl”, call Our Home Family Resource Center at 419-586-4663 and reserve a time to paint. Painting will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m. Participants register in advance for a 2-hour session. Registration is limited to 30 participants per time slot. Each painter is asked to donate or collect funds for the event ($25 minimum) and will paint two bowls. Individuals with donations of $50.00 or more will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win prizes. All the unique, hand-painted creations will then be gifted to folks who purchase tickets to the “Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction” (April 4) as a reminder of both the empty bowls in this county that need to be filled, and the commitment this community has made to fill them.
