ASSURE, Area Suicide SUpport REsources. This groups mission is to bring awareness of suicide prevention practices throughout Mercer County and the surrounding area through community outreach programs. They wish to support those experiencing thoughts of suicide and their families, as well as, suicide loss survivors by providing support resources, support groups, and by providing financial assistance to those unable to pay a suicide related expense. Our county has had 2 deaths by suicide, 22 attempts and 110 threats since January of 2017. In Ohio, every six hours someone dies by suicide. Suicide affects everyone: young, old, rich, poor, community leaders, and neighbors. These people are our family, our friends, our classmates, or our co-workers. Help them prevent these losses by participating in this walk. Please join them Sept. 8, 8:00-12:00 at the Mercer County Fairgrounds, to raise awareness and support for survivors of suicide throughout our community.
