The Rite of Election celebrates the Lord’s choosing of men, women and children of catechetical age who, with the help of the Church, acknowledge God’s election of them for the Easter Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. The Rite of Election to be held Sunday, February 18 in Dayton, marks the beginning of the final period of intensive preparation for initiation through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. The Call to Continuing Conversion, also held February 18, marks the final period of preparation for those preparing to be received into full communion or for those Catholics completing their initiation through Confirmation and First Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. The RCIA process is a “parish-wide” undertaking and all parishioners are encouraged to reach out and welcome our catechumens and candidates and pray for them on the “Journey of Faith.” As a sign of our prayerful support and encouragement, we will celebrate the Rite of Sending with our RCIA folks at the 9:00 a.m. Mass, next Sunday, February 18.
