Through their generous financial support, the people of Immaculate Conception help build the new chapel in El Chan II, our twin parish in the La Labor Region of Guatemala. But the people of El Chan II pitched in mightily with the effort. They had to obtain and clear the land for the chapel; they held raffles and sold food they had cooked to raise money for the project. They helped out at the jobsite in any way they could. “Everyone worked in harmony and appreciated the mutual help and encouragement,” writes Fr. Bill Beuth, C.PP.S., who is in ministry there. “Everyone sat down to eat lunch together and the ladies brought homemade beverages for the workers.” With God’s help, and working together here at I.C. and in El Chan II, we made it happen! The new chapel will be dedicated by the local bishop on January 14. We’ll celebrate and share photos of the construction project at a parish breakfast at the PAC after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, January 7. Please plan to be there! The breakfast is free and open to all, but a goodwill offering will be gratefully accepted.
